Custer State Park... Hunting Buffalo

Would seem kind of silly to make it to this part of the United States and not see buffalo... so we set off to go buffalo hunting!  Custer State Park is home to a free - roaming herd of about 1300-1500 of the majestic creatures... and we were pretty confident we could at least catch a glimpse of ONE!

Imagine our surprise, when 5 minutes inside the park, a small herd of about 100 was walking down the road... headed straight for us!   They didn't seem to mind us at all!

*** This space reserved for Swiz EPIC video of our squeally encounter with the buffalo... oh wait, nevermind... She forgot to hit the record button!  BwaaHaaHaa!***

Just a short drive down the road... we ran into another group.  They were content to just chill in the grass and watch us crazy tourists snap picture.... after picture.... after picture!

While time didn't play in our favor and we were not able to tour the entire 71000 acres of the park, what we did see was very picturesque and awe-inspiring.  I wish I had a nickel for each time one of us gasped, said "Wow", or squealed excitedly!

We did take a few minutes out of our touristy travels to log a smiley....  heehee.  :)  It was amazing to see the logbook from 2006 still in the rubber maid container!

And... just because we LYMI... we will share a little warning with you in case you decide to visit....

Objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear
