Map Antics - Have Pin, Will Poke!!

Planning for the "Seattle or Bust" EPIC adventure began in 2013.. it was Clyde that got the ball rolling... a simple "we should" sentence... followed by two "YES" replies!   And the planning began!

Over the last 9-10 months, I can't recall a single TTM outing that didn't include a conversation or two about the trip... our goals, our geocaching wishlists, our lodging, our packing lists, our tourist-y "must do list", etc., etc., etc.  Over time, this general chatter about the trip turned in to planning meetings, itineraries, lodging reservations, maps, and more!

I will never forget the look on the faces of the people at the Macon AAA office when we walked in with our foam-board map with color-coded pins marking our route, where we planned to stop for the night, special geocaches, and tourist stops.   It took several hours on the computer, but when we left the AAA office, we had detailed maps, TripTix books, and tourist guides for 29 states!     We have made a few adjustments to the original plan since that first trip to AAA, but I'm happy to say... We know where we are going now!!

Knowing our route hasn't stopped us from adding more "points of interest", more geocaching, and more adventure.... it has actually allowed us to search the route areas more closely for highly favorited caches, nearby virtuals and earthcaches, etc.  Each one gets an honorable mention (pin) on the foam-board map!  My new motto is "Have Pin, Will Poke"!! We are running out of time on the clock, but we will never run out of items for our wishlist!

With less than a week until the start of the EPIC adventure, the packing has begun!  The lists are being finalized!   Clyde has the geo-mobile ready..... and we are getting ready to roll....

Woot Woot!
