Day 3... The Catawampus Route

We are on a mission to hit 29 states in 17 days and that means occasionally going out of the way to visit states.  Day 3 was one of those days!  We ventured far north... and far south to clip North Dakota and Nebraska.  With barely less than hour spent in each of those states... we still snagged caches.... and had our fun!

After our "we have to be responsible" stops (Walmart for food and ice.. another gas station), we were on the move!  From Rochester to Minneapolis to Fergus Falls... and then finally a stop!   But seriously... it is never that "simple" for The Tick-Magnets!  HaHaHa... we picked up a new fan... and he is a muggle!  Swiz was driving the geo-mobile at the time when a car pulled up beside us and slowed down.  At first, she thought the po-po had finally caught up with us... but then she was grateful when she realized the man was frantically waving his Seattle Seahawks hat at her.  We chuckled and waved and he was on his way.  Apparently he had seen the "Seattle or Bust" painted across the back window.  Fast forward to Fergus Falls.... and who is at the same stop as us.... yep, Mr. Seattle Seahawk, a.k.a. Tariq!   He wanted to take a pic of the back of the geo-mobile and of course we indulged him.  :)

Fergus Falls was a great place to stop!  The rest area sits on the Continental Divide and it is so well decorated and maintained!  Add in an earthcache and traditional... and you make these ladies smile!

Then off to North Dakota!  A quick stop to grab a library cache took us to an awesome mural!  Note the Opera House on the mural is the same building on the left side of the picture!  The building has had a paint job!

Into South Dakota...  More America the Beautiful scenery...

And then straight south into Nebraska!  Mulberry Bend Overlook (a National Park) provided us breathtaking views if the Missouri River!  It was amazing to stand on the land Lewis and Clark traversed.  Seeing the bends and meanders and sand bars really made us appreciate the difficulties the Lewis and Clark expedition must have encountered!   Clyde took the opportunity get her Lewis and Clark ON by studying the flora!  The sunset picture Swiz took sums up the beauty of the river!

Back into South Dakota to spend the night and prep for another wonderful day of adventure.  Did we mention that Monday is a webcam day?  Stay tuned for more updates!  :)
