The Corn Palace... In Pieces...

The Palace in Mitchell, SD in undergoing a major renovation.  The large Hershey - kiss - shaped rooftop ornaments (minarets) have been removed and are now sitting on the street.  Bobcats and construction workers are moving about with a purposeful pace.  Temporary walls are in place... and a stroll to the ladies restroom will take 5 minutes of maze-walking!  Despite all of that, it was still a pleasure to visit.

I am amazed by the longevity of the Palace (open since 1892) and the vision that goes into the corn walls and murals!

Usually the Palace is covered... inside and out, but the renovations have limited the number of displays.  Judging by the numerous pictures posted to show what the updated Palace will look like... it will be worth a return trip!
