Original Stash-- Epic Trip Goal Número Dos!!!

Original Stash-- Epic Trip Goal
Número Dos !!!

Sunday, August 17 was a very ambitious day.    We left our home-away-from-home in Everette Wa and headed some 80 miles southeast (yes, EAST--- as in back-track) to attend the 2014 Ape Tribute event.

Once we departed the MEGA, we were headed to Newport, Oregon to stay the night on the beach.   But of course, that wasn't a straight shot either--- we couldn't be this close and not get the Original Stash Tribute Cache. This treasure was 2nd on the list of MUST-DOs.

So east of Portland we trucked.   The roads were narrow and wound back and forth up a hillside. It was amazing to see all the Christmas Tree farms--- trees from 2 feet tall  to over 8 feet tall.  Not sure any of us realized how many Christmas Trees are produced in the area.

As the car climbed, the trees and flora became more green and lush.  It was truly breathtaking.   We rolled into GZ to find monk29 family from Buffalo New York.   They too were doing a major state run on the way to and from the Block Party.  We took pics of them, they took pics of us, and of course we got a group pic of us all.  They had found the cache and were packing up as we rolled in.  So we said our goodbyes and set off to search for the log.   The Original Stash was found quickly by Mac and the log was signed and a few TBs were left.   Then the hunt for the Un-Original Stash (located just a few feet away) began.   Clyde found it and signed the log---  happy to have the 2-FER !!

So that is 2 smileys, a cache from 2000, one from 2003, a find at the site of what started it all, a special icon, and a souvenir!!   That, my friends, is a successful cache stop.

The it was off to the beach..I will leave that tale to tell for Clyde.
